RALEIGH, NC – February 24, 2009 – The Preiss Company (“TPCO”), the largest provider of off-campus student housing at North Carolina State University, Clemson University, Auburn University in Alabama, and the University of Texas in Austin and the second largest provider at UNC Charlotte, is proud to announce the recent election of Donna Preiss and Susan Folckemer to the Board of Directors of the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC). Preiss and Folckemer joined 20 other real estate professionals who were elected to serve on the Council’s Board during its meeting held on January 21-23 at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, CA.

As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TPCO, Preiss has been recognized by Triangle Business Journal as one of the Triangle’s most successful professional women and was awarded their 2006 Women in Business Award. She has also been honored by Business Leader magazine and Triangle Real Estate magazine as an Impact Triangle Real Estate Broker for 2007/2008. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the SPCA, the Advisory Board for the NMHC, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board, and the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is also a member of the NAA National Student Housing Committee and a member of the NMHC National Student Housing Committee.

Folckemer, TPCO Executive Vice President, has overseen the development and acquisition of over 8,000 multi-family beds and secured lending for over $350,000,000 in development and investment property. She served as President for both Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women (TCREW) and the Institute of Real Estate Management Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter (IREM). She is also actively involved in the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors (TCAR), Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM), and National Apartment Association (NAA).

With its joint legislative partner, the National Apartment Association, NMHC serves as the apartment industry’s primary advocate on legislative and regulatory matters. The Council also conducts apartment-related research, produces strategic information on business-related issues, and promotes the desirability of apartment living. TPCO is currently the 12th largest off-campus student-housing provider in the nation. Preiss says that her company’s involvement in NMHC is one of the reasons TPCO continues to be a student-housing leader.

“The industry contacts I make and the timely information I receive through NMHC are invaluable,” says Preiss. “The ability to anticipate industry trends or fluctuations in the market is what keeps [the Preiss Company] ahead of the curve and positioned for success. I’m proud to support NMHC and equally honored to be serving on its Board of Directors with so many talented and dedicated professionals from across the nation.”
