Donna Preiss of The Preiss Company Selected as a “Top-Idea Maven” by The Woman’s Advantage

RALEIGH, NC – November 12, 2010 – The Preiss Company (“TPCO”), one of the largest off-campus student housing providers in the nation, has announced that company founder and CEO, Donna Preiss, was selected from over 5,000 submissions to be featured in The 2011 Woman’s Advantage Shared Wisdom Calendar. The calendar provides advice on key business issues including organization, promotion, sales, and human resources from influential women leaders across the United States and Canada.

Founded by Preiss in 1987, TPCO specializes in the development, acquisition, and management of off-campus student housing. The company employs over 250 team members and currently owns and/or operates properties in six states. Throughout her career, Preiss has participated in the development, acquisition, and management of over 12,000 multi-family beds and secured lending for just under $420,000,000 in development and investment property. Preiss says that the success of her company has always been built on the idea of efficiency through measurement. Preiss’ quote—“Increase your company’s efficiency through good management; grow your company through good leadership.”—will appear in the calendar, which was released on October 1.

Mary Cantando, Growth Expert of The Woman’s Advantage, is a nationally-recognized expert on women business owners. She is the developer of the successful Woman’s Advantage line of products geared specifically to women entrepreneurs. Cantando says that Preiss’ quote was selected because it was powerful yet easy to understand.

“Donna’s idea is relevant to almost every woman in business today.” says Cantando. “Women business owners and those who dream of starting a business will learn so much from the advice provided by Donna and the other successful women quoted in the calendar.”

In addition to her recent accomplishment, Preiss also has been recognized by Triangle Business Journal as one of the Triangle’s most successful professional women and was awarded their 2006 Women in Business Award. She has also been honored by Business Leader magazine and Triangle Real Estate magazine as an Impact Triangle Real Estate Broker for 2007/2008. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the SPCA, the National Multi Housing Council, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and the Wake Tech Foundation. She also serves on the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board and is a member of the NAA National Student Housing Committee, the NMHC National Student Housing Committee, and the Women President’s Organization.

“I’m delighted my quote was accepted and very honored to be among so many talented and highly-regarded women,” says Preiss. “When you own and operate a business, the learning curve is continuous. What works one week may not hold true the next. It’s a dynamic and exciting environment, and I hope that my advice will help inspire, motivate, or encourage fellow entrepreneurs to pursue their dream with courage and conviction.”
