Over the past year, The Preiss Company Leadership Team has been working to find new ways to recognize the stars and their achievements across our entire nationwide portfolio. There are so many unsung heroes that make up the diverse and multi-talented TPCO Team who go to work and spend their entire day working hard towards the TPCO Mission of “being the best working and student environment anywhere”, all while reinforcing the TPCO Student Commitment of “delivering the best student experience anywhere”.
One way we wanted to recognize these outstanding team members is through the introduction of the TPCO Spotlight Award, a monthly award highlighting those team members who are going above and beyond their normal duties to make TPCO the nation’s leading student housing provider. This award will be given monthly, as nominated by Regional Managers and other Leadership Team members.
It is our pleasure an announce the winner of the first TPCO Spotlight award for January 2017.
This month’s award goes to Raul Deleon, Area Maintenance Supervisor at University Estates and University Village in Austin, TX.
Raul started with Preiss in July 2015 as the Maintenance Supervisor at University Estates. He inherited a tough task of having to complete turn at UEA, a 1,548 bed property, with less than one month to prepare. Not only was Raul able to complete that turn, he was able to move forward quickly with an update to policies and procedures to make maintenance at UEA run more effectively and efficiently. He created a new priority workflow for work orders at UEA, reducing resident wait time for important and emergency work order items. Raul has a consistent follow-up process, monitoring work order completion and even taking after-hours duties as necessary.
Late in 2016 after just over a year with TPCO, Raul was promoted to Area Maintenance Supervisor over 2,700 beds. He took on this task with his usual tenacity, determined to ensure that the 12 people on his team and the property managers for both sites were communicated with on an ongoing basis. Raul’s communication skills are one of his best attributes, always letting his teammates know what tasks lie ahead and laying out a schedule that gets everyone’s best efforts. Raul has led an effort that has reduced the work order queue over 150%, completing 90% of the work orders in less than 72 hours time.
Raul, your leadership and dedication to your craft have continued to allow UEA and UVA thrive and succeed. We are proud to have you on our team and couldn’t think of a better first winner of this award. You are the embodiment of what it means to have a determined spirit. You continue to set the bar high for what it means to be a true team player! Congratulations and keep up the good work!
