Kirk’s 70 at 70

Every decade since he turned 40 years old, Kirk Preiss has made it his personal mission on his birthday to run the number of miles matching the age he turned that year. At 40 he ran 40 miles, 50 miles at 50, 60 miles at 60, and most recently on June 19th 70 miles at the age of 70!

This year, Kirk wanted his tradition to mean much more than in years past so he dedicated his endeavor to the memory of his late father, Donald M. Preiss who passed away earlier this year. Kirk also used this opportunity to honor the celebration of Juneteenth and raise awareness and support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Over $11,000 was raised and donated to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

“The overwhelming feeling of this was this love that they have for me and I have for them. It’s powerful when you see things like that. ”
